PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday acquitted a convict sentenced to 10 years for raping a girl who was later killed by her brothers in the name of honour. A single bench of Justice Ikramullah Khan acquitted Shah Nawaz after hearing arguments in an appeal filed against the conviction. He had been sentenced to 10 years by a trial court.
As per the trial court decision passed on June 13, 2016 the prosecution had successfully proved its case through cogent, coherent and trust inspiring evidence that could not be shattered by the opposite side either through cross examination or by production of oral or documentary evidence in defence.
