ISLAMABAD: Top leadership of the PPP gathered on Monday to announce that it had filed the defamation case in the court of law against Chairman Hashoo Group Sadruddin Hashwani, who is author of “The Truth Always Prevails” of Rs2 billion in which he mentioned some incidents relating to former President and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
“The Pakistan People’s Party always faced the conspiracies and defaming of its leaders -Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto to Asif Ali Zardari-but despite all the allegations the people of Pakistan always supported it as it is only federal party of the country,” said PPP Senator Farooq H Naek while addressing a press conference along with Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah, PPP Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira and Senator Farhatullah Babar here on Tuesday.
Senator Farooq H Naek said the PPP was always facing the tycoon of establishment, religious extremism and media for last 40 years where they declared leadership of the PPP as a traitors and some time defame the leadership with fake and fabricated allegations of corruption but they never bowed down due to support of people of Pakistan.
Senator Farooq H Naek, who is also legal advisor of former President Asif Ali Zardari, said in the book the author has leveled baseless allegations not only against Asif Ali Zardari but also former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. “The court of law has fixed February 6 as hearing date on our petition filed against Chairman Hashoo Group Sadruddin Hashwani,” he said.
He said in May 1999 Asif Ali Zardari was illegally taken out of central prison, Karachi and shifted to CIA Centre Karachi, where he was not only tortured to sign confessional statement implicating himself and his spouse Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto but also threatened to be killed. “On refusal his neck and tongue were slashed and was then shifted to Aga Khan Hospital while he was bleeding profusely and his clothes soaked in blood,” he added.
In reply to a question, spokesman of former President Senator Farhatullah Babar said the purpose of filing defamation suit against Sadruddin Hashwani was to make it a test case to end the politics of the leveling baseless allegations. “In the past, allegations were leveled against the PPP leadership of involvement in the memo gate scandal and other scams but where these cases are now,” he questioned.
