Navy beat WAPDA, almost reach kabaddi semis
KARACHI: Navy virtually qualified for the semi-finals when they recorded their second successive win, beating WAPDA 44-24 in their Group B match of the first edition of the Strawberry Inter-Departmental Asian Style National Kabaddi Championship at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad on Thursday.
Navy, who had comprehensively defeated Police in their opener on Wednesday, continued their fine run, overwhelming strong WAPDA with an enviable ease. In a Group A game, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) were off to an impressive start when they threw Railways out of the competitions, beating them 61-21, their second successive loss.
The result enabled both PAF and Army to qualify for the semi-finals from the three-team group.In another Group B outing, Police defeated Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) 43-40. SNGPL exited with their second loss on the trot.
