PHC seals illegal clinics

LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission on Thursday sealed illegal businesses of 30 quacks. The PHC teams raided different parts of the city, and found dental and medical clinics working illegally. The teams found various laboratories without qualified staff and their equipment was dirty.

According to a press release, the sealed centres are: Mirza Yousaf Medical and Maternity, Sonu Clinical Lab, Asif Jarrah, Mani Free Dispensary and Life Care, Rana X-ray Centre and Lab, Haq Clinic, Chishti Chemist and Jamiat ul Quraish at Sadr; Zeenat Zacha Bacha Centre, Ramazan Dental Clinic, Samia Rashid Clinic and Abdul Waheed Bone Setter at Mian Mir Pind; Awais Shafakhana Jarrah on Upper Mall; Iftikhar Pehalwan Jarrah at Gulbahar Colony; Ijaz Medical Store and Chief Medical Store at Peter Colony; Mukhtar Medicos and Khan Jarrah Shafakhana at Chungi Amarsidhu; Mian Clinic and Akbar Homeopathic Clinic on Walton Road; Lala Faqeer Muhammad Pehalwan at Dharampura; Muhammad Dental Clinic and Arsalan Dental Hospital at Nishat Colony; Al-Ayesha Homoeopathic Clinic and Nazir Medical Centre at Gulshan Ali Colony; Shehzad Homeopathic Clinic and Al-Saudia Mattab on Badian Road; Idrees Dental Clinic, American Dental Clinic and Fida Dental Clinic at Garhi Shahu.

World Bank: A World Bank delegation under the chairmanship of Christoph Pusch visited Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab office on Thursday. 

Director General, Provincial Disaster Management Authority, and Project Director PIU-PDMA Punjab received the guests and briefed them about the ongoing activities of Disaster & Climate Resilience Improvement Project (DCRIP), assisted by World Bank.

The delegation visited the newly-established state-of-the-art Provincial Disaster Management Authority’s control room and inaugurated Mobile Communication Vehicle service by presenting the key to Hameed Ullah Malik (Project Director).

The delegation expressed its satisfaction and praised the Provincial Disaster Management Authority’s efforts to deal the disastrous situations with the help of high-tech Integrated Disaster Management System and Independent satellite based Emergency Mobile Communication channel. 

ADB mission: The Asian Development Bank Mission for Health Sector Consultation and Development called on Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan in his office to discuss the avenues for cooperation for the development of health sector in Punjab.

The delegation included Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, ADB), Principal Health Specialist Eduardo Banzon, Central and West Regional Department Health Specialist Ms Rouselle Lavado, Pakistan Resident Mission Social Sector Specialist Munir Abro.

The head of the Mission, Eduardo Banzon, praised Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan for his efforts and keen interest in development of Primary and Secondary health in the province.

The secretary expressed interest in seeking cooperation of ADB in revamping the drug control regime, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in pharmaceutical industry, warehousing practices and public and private partnership in different fields.

The mission expressed their interest in providing assistance to improve the system of minimum service delivery standards in the public sector hospitals and removing the gaps. It was decided to draft recommendations for a master plan for secondary hospitals in selected districts of Punjab to support the implementation of the operational plan for health.
