MULTAN: Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mian Iqbal Hassan on Monday hailed the decision of the government to cut the POL prices and said that it would give relief to industrial sector.
Talking to journalists here on Monday, MCCI president Mian Iqbal Hassan said that survival of a country only depends on sound economy, which needed business-friendly environment. He asked the government to take steps for overcoming the power crisis as due to unscheduled gas and power loadshedding it had become impossible for the industrialists to meet the export targets. He said that industry would definitely get benefit from reduction in the POL prices mainly in Punjab where most of the industrial units generate electricity by using diesel to meet their energy need. Meanwhile, APBUMA chairman Khawaja Jalaluddin Roomi said that reduction in the POL prices was a good news for the business community as well as for ordinary people of the country. He said that reduction in petroleum prices would reduce cost of production that would ultimately extend a direct benefit to the people. All Pakistan Oil Mills Association chairman Khawaja Muhammad Faazil asked the government to make system of check and balance to ensure any reduction in petroleum prices in international market should be reflected in the domestic prices every month. All Pakistan Power Looms Association chairman Khaliq Qandeel Ansari also hailed the decision and urged the government to take action against those who created hurdles in extending benefits to the people after reduction in the POL prices. Former MCCI president Khawaja Muhammad Usman said that reduction in petroleum prices would reduce transport fares.
