Call to resolve Gwadar water crisis
KARACHI: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) has called on the government to provide clean, safe, and healthy drinking water to the people of Gwadar, which is the focal point of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, a statement said on Wednesday.
“Residents of this coastal city get clean drinking water for just one hour, every two to three weeks. The poor population cannot afford expensive water tankers or bottled water,” Fehmida Jamali, executive committee member of the chamber, said in a statement. “Over 200,000 people in this port city are in desperate need of free access to safe drinking water.”
Jamali earnestly appealed to the authorities to resolve the water supply issue for the citizens of Gwadar at the earliest.
