Issues like low literacy rates, child labour, acute petrol, gas and electricity shortages, backward customs, etc look minor when compared with the deadly and barbaric attacks carried out by extremists across the country. These attacks pose the biggest threat to Pakistan today.
The attack on the Shikarpur imambargah underscores the need to immediately take action against terrorists. According to media reports, the survivors of the attack and people nearby have expressed their anger at the inadequate security measures being taken by the administration. However, it is also important to understand that along with improved security, we need to change our views about extremism. We need to stop blaming terrorist acts on foreign hands.
