PHC moved against KMU VC’s appointment
PESHAWAR: Appointment of Dr Arshad Javaid as Khyber Medical University vice-chancellor was challenged in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Tuesday. Prof Dr Ziaul Islam, an eye specialist, challenged the appointment of Dr Arshad Javaid in the high court through his lawyers Mohibullah Kakakhel and Saifullah Muhib.
The petitioner claimed in the petition that he was not called for interview for the post conducted by the selection committee. The petitioner claimed he was more qualified, experienced and topped the list of eligible candidates for the post. He said had he been called for the interview, he would have been the priority for the slot. He said this conduct of the selection committee showed its malafide intention and ulterior motives. "The procedure prescribed by the committee is not that of the university's Act of 2012, but their own created, which is illegal and should be struck down," the petitioner claimed. The petitioner prayed the court to declare the selection process illegal, and in excess of jurisdiction on part of the committee.
