CHARSADDA: A girl child was killed and five other members of the family sustained injuries as the roof of a house collapsed in Gulpur village here on Thursday.
Several houses collapsed while crops and orchards were damaged as torrential rains lashed parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here the other night. The eight-year-old daughter of one Sardar Ali was killed and his mother, wife, two other minor daughters and a son sustained injuries as the roof of the house collapsed due to heavy rains in Gulpur village.
The locals rescued the injured and retrieved the body from under the debris soon after the incident. The injured were shifted to a local hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.The injured included Zainab, 8, Haleema, 6, and Haider Ali, 2.
Meanwhile, a heavy monsoon rain coupled with gusty winds wreaked havoc in Charsadda district, damaging crops and orchards and pulling down boundary walls of several houses in Nissata and Dheri Zardad. The torrential rain resulted in floods in Jindi River, which damaged the boundary walls of several houses on the banks of the river.
