Afghan envoy for strong ties to fight challenges Links prosperity to quality education From Our Correspondent FAISALABAD: Afghan Counselor Naqibullah Ibrahimi on Saturday said Pakistan and Afghanistan were enjoying good relations based on brotherhood, religion and similarities in culture that will be further strengthened to get benefit from each other and fight against common challenges. He was speaking at a welcome function of Foreign Students at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad arranged by International Club. “Prosperity is directly linked to quality education as it plays a pivotal role in the uplift of a society.” He asked the students to leave no stone unturned to quench the thirst of education that was a guarantee of a bright future. Afghan First Secretary and Cultural Affairs In-charge Safar Amiri and Afghan Second Secretary Muhammad Shakir Karar were also present. Karar said that education was prerequisite for socio-economic uplift of any country. He said that as many as 7,000 Afghan students were enrolled in Pakistan to get education. He said the Afghan government had given top priority to education and educated youths would take the nation to new heights of progress. Prof Dr Tahir Siddique and Prof Dr Muhammad Younis presented the welcome and vote of thanks. International Club president Hazratullah also spoke. UAF Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said Pakistan Scholarship Programme for Afghan students would help the countries strengthen their ties and get benefit from each other. “No nation can progress without education. The university is taking all possible steps to provide the state-of-the-art facilities to Afghan students.” Terming the students an engine of development, he urged them to think out of box and come up with innovative ideas. He asked them to prepare themselves for future leadership in each sphere of life.
