KARACHI: PHF Executive Board meeting will be held in two weeks in Islamabad, in which all hockey issues will be discussed thoroughly, including the preparations of senior and junior teams for future assignments.
The meeting will also discuss domestic hockey, appointment of new team management and reorganisation of selection committee, ‘The News’ has learnt. The PHF top management is dissatisfied with the national team’s performance in London qualifying round. But it wants to take onboard all important names in national hockey before making drastic changes. It will invite former Olympians on the sidelines of Executive Board meeting.
Sources in the PHF said that PHF was not in a hurry to appoint a new team management. It wanted to hold consultation with renowned former players who were part of World Cup and Olympics winning squads.
The sources said that those likely to be invited are Olympians Hasan Sardar, Samiullah, Islahuddin, Shahnaz Sheikh, Manzoor Junior, Manzoor-ul-Hasan, Tauqeer Dar and Qamar Zia. They will discuss proposals to prepare the national senior team for Asia Cup 2017 and World Cup 2018.
