The electricity crisis in Pakistan doesn’t seem to have an end. Despite tall claims made by the government, loadshedding continues to make the lives of the people miserable. Persistent loadshedding has affected almost every person. It has also added additional financial burdens on a large number of people. Because of continuous loadshedding, many people have bought a generator or UPS device. The UPS device consumes electricity, leading to huge electricity bills. On the other hand, generators run on either gas or petrol, leading to a significant increase in monthly expenses.
It is the responsibility of the government to provide uninterrupted power supply to the people. If the country is facing a crisis, it should come up with alternatives to generate electricity. The country has natural resources in abundance. It is time the government used alternative resources – air, water and sun – to generate electricity. These steps will help the government deal with the electricity crisis and provide relief to the people. The problem of loadshedding can be easily resolved by constructing dams and utilising these natural resources.
