MCI action against adulteration

Islamabad :Continuing operation against adulteration in the federal capital, the Directorate of Health Services of the Municipal Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) issued notices to eleven violators while imposing fine on many others during the second half of last month.

The Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz chaired a meeting which was informed that especially constituted teams of Health Services Directorate of the Authority, are raiding in the entire city to ensure provision of quality edible items as per required health standards during the last two weeks of the month of June.

The meeting was also informed that during the above said period of month of June, these teams have challaned six people and issued 11 notices to the violators of hygiene under sections of PPF Ordinance 1960. Moreover, two dozen snacks, three dozen Expired items, Utensils cracked, chipped, and broken were also confiscated and destroyed there and then while nine food samples from different food outlets have also been collected and sent to laboratory for further for proper examination.

Sheikh Anser Aziz has also directed the Directorate of Health Services to continue operation against sub-standard and adulterated food sellers. He has further directed to ensure the implementation of relevant rules and strict action against sub-standards, unhygienic and adulterated food sellers. He has further directed to submit daily progress report in this regard.

He said food adulterators are enemies of society and a comprehensive and sustained campaign is required to defeat these anti social criminal elements.

He said the food adulterators play with lives of people saying a pro-active approach against the food adulterators.  He said the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has a vision for healthy Pakistan. Under his guidance, MCI is proceeding against food adulterators. Action against food adulterators should be made more effective, fruitful and result oriented.
