KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has announced he would quit his party, and the reason he cites for his decision is that the establishment has never been happy with him, said Shahzaib Khanzada on Geo News programme ‘Aaj Shahzaib Khanzada Kay Sath’ on Thursday.
Khanzada said that this is not the first time Altaf Hussain announced quitting the party. The MQM chief has on many occasions in the past made similar decisions and then withdrew them as well.
He said that Altaf also criticised the four martial laws that were imposed on the country in the past though the MQM chief himself on a number of occasions had termed martial law to be the solution to the problems the country faced. In fact, just a few days ago he had demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to declare martial law in Sindh.
Khanzada said the MQM said something peculiar about the traders of Karachi on Thursday. It said that a list of those industrialists and traders “who are indifferent towards the suffering of the people of the city” has been compiled so that a peaceful campaign to get the city rid of such traders is set in motion. Later, there have been some hints that the MQM is denying the said statement.
Commenting over the resignation of Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar from the post of Punjab governor, Shahzaib Khanzada said that there are some reports saying that the Prime Minister’s House had asked Sarwar to resign, but the governor has said that the decision to resign is his own decision.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry has turned down Pervez Musharraf’s plea for permission to go abroad.Rana Sanaullah, while talking to Shahzaib Khanzada on the programme, said that just four months after having assumed the office of the governor, Chaudhry Sarwar had asked him (Rana Sanaullah) that he wanted to quit. “I had then told him that it would not look good to be quitting just four months into the job, and that he should continue at least for the time being,” Sanaullah said. Then again Sarwar broached the subject during the sit-in movement of Imran Khan and Tahir-ul-Qadri, and again he had been requested by the PML-N to continue until the sit-in movement was over.
Rana Sanaullah said that Chaudhry Sarwar was given a very warm sendoff.Imran Khan’s lawyer Ahmed Owais said on the programme that the application by the PTI chief to the tribunal against NA-122 report is not a U-turn. He said that the delay in the formation of the judicial commission is an ample proof that the government wants to drag the matter.
Pervez Musharraf’s lawyer Faisal Hussain Chaudhry said on the programme that the government wanted to insult the former president by rejecting his plea for permission to travel abroad. He said that Pervaiz Rashid has no understanding of the law whatsoever.
Former cricket captain Wasim Akram said that allowing Mohammad Amir permission to play cricket again is a very positive development. He said that when Amir had made the blunder he was too young.
