LAHORE :Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court sent to Chief Justice a petition seeking execution of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav at the earliest, to fix it before some other bench.

As the petition came up for hearing on Monday, petitioner Mehmood Ahmad Naqvi requested to transfer it from this court. Petitioner said Jadhav was involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan and had already confessed to his guilt.

He said the government should not show any lenience on mercy petition of the spy. He also said that Jadhav should be executed as soon as possible. Jadhav was arrested on March 3, 2016, through a counter-intelligence operation in Balochistan's Mashkel area for his involvement in espionage and sabotage activities in Pakistan.

Jadhav confessed before the court that he was tasked by RAW to plan, coordinate and organise subversive activities in Karachi and Balochistan. A field general court martial(FGCM) tried him and sentenced him to death. Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed his death sentence awarded by FGCM," the military's media wing said. Jadhav has moved mercy petition to COAS.
