Around 60,000 CCTV cameras would be installed across the metropolis as part of the ‘Safe City Karachi’ initiative, said Sindh Chief Secretary Rizwan Memon on Monday.
The CS was presiding over a meeting called to review progress of ongoing projects. In his briefing on the ‘Safe City Karachi’ project, Home Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez said initially 60,000 CCTV cameras are to be installed in the city, adding to those already installed by the police and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
The CS stressed the need to execute the projects as per the approved plan and in a transparent manner, and urged the home and IT secretaries to help overcome any potential bottlenecks.
The meeting was attended by IT Secretary Abdul Raheem Soomro, Additional IGP CTD Sanaullah Abbasi and IG Prisons Nusrat Mangan.
