Cardiac Units: Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah has directed the authorities concerned to prepare a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the cardiac units in tertiary care hospitals and improve treatment facilities in Punjab Institute of Cardiology by reducing workload on the institution.
He directed formation of a committee headed by PIC Chief Executive Prof Nadeem Hayat Malik. All the heads of cardiac centres and professors of cardiac units of teaching hospitals would be the members of the committee.
“The committee would prepare recommendations keeping in view all the aspects of the issue and requirements of the hospitals for strengthening the cardiac units and submit its report to the secretary within three days,” he said while presiding over a meeting held at Civil Secretariat on Saturday to take steps for further improving the working of PIC and strengthening the cardiac units of teaching hospitals by providing support to them in shape of logistic, human resource and medical equipment, according to a handout issued here.
