MULTAN: The Mango Growers Cooperative Society has asked the government to install chillers and cold chain at newly-built Multan Airport to enhance agriculture crops to international markets.
A MGCS delegation led by its president Syed Asghar Raza Gardezi Thursday visited Multan Airport and met with Airport Project Director Air Vice-Marshal (retd) Attique Rafiq. Airport Manager Tariq Gill was also present.
The delegation later visited the cargo terminal building, which is still under-construction. The growers discussed modalities with the CAA project director and Project Manager Atta Muhammad Sheikh for the mango export and other crops. The delegation comprised of newly-elected president Syed Asghar Raza Gardezi, Zahid Hussain Gardezi, S Nasir Abbas Jafri, Malik Waqar Awan, S Khizar Abbas Bukhari, S Nasir Zaman Gardezi, Hamid Hassan Sargana, S Hassan Askari Gardezi and Ansar Jamal.
MQM OBSERVES MOURNING DAY: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement observed a mourning day against extra-judicial killing of party worker Sohail Ahmed and 36 others.
The MQM workers led by South Punjab president Mirza Furqan Mughal also staged a demonstration and condemned the killing of party workers on Thursday. The condemned the murder of MQM workers, saying that the party was being punished for demanding rights. South Punjab president Mirza Furqan Mughal said that at least 36 workers had been killed in fake encounters in Karachi. He said that it was not the first incident of extra-judicial killings. “The MQM is being victimised for raising its voice against target-killings.” The MQM leader said that his party trusted the Rangers and police. He criticised the Sindh government for not taking steps to protect the MQM workers.
