A sessions judge visited the Camp Jail and ordered the release of 25 prisoners involved in petty offences on Thursday.
The judge visited different parts of the prison including kitchen, hospital, juvenile barrack and addict ward. The judge was accompanied by Jail Superintendent Shahram Khan.
Meanwhile, IG Prisons Farooq Nazir announced exemption of two months imprisonment to the prisoners on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH).
Two months relaxation was just meant for those prisoners who were punished for more than five years. While those prisoners who were punished for less than five years would be given relaxation for one month.
This exemption would not be applicable to the prisoners punished for the crimes of drug-peddling, rape, robbery, kidnapping for ransom and terrorism.
LECTURE FOR WARDENS: City Traffic Police organised a lecture by a psychologist to boost morale of wardens and address psychological issues. Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafiz Cheema, SP Headquarters, Rana Shujat, Tasleem Shuja and other officers were present. The CTO organised a series of lectures by psychologist Dr Tahir. The CTO said the purpose of the lectures was to answer the queries that arise in the minds of wardens during duty. Dr Tahir said the lectures would address their psychological problems.
ATTEMPTS SUICIDE: A 15-year-old boy tried to commit suicide in Barki Police limits. SHO Naveed Azam said the boy was mentally retarded boy and expelled from a school for three times. On the day of incident, he locked himself in a room and shot at and injured himself. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in a critical condition. The boy was a student of matriculation.
