CHAKWAL: The railway authorities on Monday demolished a school, which was constructed illegally on the railway land near Mohallah Kazimabad.
The operation was led by Railway Tehsildar Sarwar Khan. Earlier, an FIR was registered against Muhammad Younis Awan and others one month ago for constructing a school under so-called project ‘Jhuggi School’ some three years ago. This illegal construction was pointed out by the Chakwal Press Club chairman Khawaja Babar Saleem.
After confirming the school’s status, the railway police confirmed that the construction of the school alongside the railway lines was a clear violation of the Pakistan Railways Act. The railway police had asked Younis to demolish the school but he did not do that. Later, Younis got bail before arrest from a court.
Railway police ASI M Idrees told that the school was being run by an NGO and six other influential people and they were allegedly minting money from philanthropists in the name of providing education to the poor people.
