Safety first
The practice of talking on mobile phone while driving is on rise. This dangerous habit leads to frequent road accidents. Driving is complex and challenging. Using a mobile phone while driving affects judgement and concentration and one may fail to choose a safe gap. It is dangerous because a telephone conversation distracts from the mental concentration needed to drive safely.
Many drivers realise that using mobile phones is distracting, however, they still do not consider it dangerous. Although the government has passed laws, these laws will remain ineffective unless strict action is taken against wrongdoers. It is believed that by imposing heavy financial penalties, drivers will start to take the law seriously. In addition, it is also necessary to make them understand how unsafe it is to use mobile phones while driving – that should be the real motivation to stop using them.
