PESHAWAR: As many as 322 suspects were rounded up during search operations in the provincial capital on Monday.
According to a spokesman for the Peshawar Police, 10 proclaimed offenders and 20 tenants, who had not registered their details with police, were among the 322 people arrested during the search operations.
Many have questioned as to how many of those 322 held were militants, the main focus for which search and strike operations were launched. The police officials normally claim to have arrested hundreds of suspects during these operations, probably to show a bigger figure to their bosses, but most of the arrestees are released later as they haven't committed any crime or only involved in minor violations, which is not the purpose of these operations.
