CCHF patient under treatment at PIMS

ISLAMABAD: Anwar Khan, a patient who was brought to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for treatment of Hepatitis on June 4, has been confirmed by the National Institute of Health as suffering from Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF). The patient, who comes from Sara-e-Naurang in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, is currently under treatment in the isolation ward of medical ward 2 at PIMS, and his condition is reported to have stabilized. He was tested for CCHF in view of symptoms including low blood platelets count. Anwar is an animal handler.
