Fellowships for journalists
Islamabad: The Alfred Friendly Press has offered fellowships for the journalists to improve their professional skills.
Fellowships are aimed at providing fellows with experience in reporting, writing and editing that will enhance future professional performance; transferring knowledge gained during the programme to colleagues at home; and fostering ties between journalists in the United States and other countries.
Print, broadcast and online journalists from developing countries can apply for an annual programme that brings journalists to American newsrooms, said a press release on Wednesday.
The next programme will start in mid-March and end in early September 2018. The fellowship begins with a two-week orientation at the Missouri School of Journalism, followed by placement in leading US newsrooms.
Fellows receive travel, health insurance and basic living expenses. Applicants must have at least three years of professional experience, current full-time employment as a journalist, be between 25 and 35 years old and have a good level of spoken and written English. The deadline is August 31.
