MANSEHRA: A token strike of two hours was observed at the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital (KATH) here on Saturday to demand the arrest of four persons who had beaten up a doctor and another employee a day earlier.
“We have observed a two-hour token strike. And we would observe a complete strike from Monday if the accused are not arrested within 36 hours,” Dr Faheemul Haq, the president of Young Doctors Association, told reporters here.
The medical superintendent of King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, Dr Mohammad Javed Tanoli, has also lodged first information report with City Police Station against Sher Bahader. According to Dr Tanoli, Sher Bahader and his accomplices had beaten and dragged a doctor, Ansar, during the duty on Friday evening.
Dr Faheemul Haq said that Mohammad Danish, who was discharged from a hospital in Abbottabad as an untreatable patient, was hospitalised at King Abdullah Teaching Hospital where he expired on Friday evening in presence of doctors. However, the father of the patient and three other people severely tortured Dr Ansar.
He said that it had become a fashion here that when a patient expires his/her attendants attack doctors and paramedics.
