UBL honours Younis Khan
KARACHI: United Bank (UBL) on Monday honoured Younis Khan at an impressive ceremony days after the former Pakistan captain retired from international cricket as the country’s only batsman to score 10,000 runs.
Wajahat Husain, President and CEO of UBL, paid a glowing tribute to Younis, regarded among the greatest batsmen of his generation, at the ceremony held here at UBL’s head office.
A host of former Test cricketers were also present at occasion. Most of them including Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu, Abdur Raqib, Rashid Latif and Moin Khan played a role in shaping Younis’ illustrious career.
Younis, who plays for UBL on the domestic circuit, said that he was delighted to see his friends, family and colleagues stressing that he worked hard to serve the country. He promised that he will continue serving Pakistan cricket even as a former Test cricketer.
Mansoor M. Khan, a top UBL official and a former hockey player, said that Younis was a great asset for Pakistan.
The UBL President gave Younis a souvenir and a cheque of Rs 2 million as a “token of appreciation”. Also present at the occasion were UBL’s Nadeem Khan and Ali Habib.
