Railway official arrested for fraud
LAHORE
FIA Tuesday arrested a railway official for defrauding people worth millions of rupees through leasing out railway land on fake documents.
According to FIA Assistant Director Aftab Butt, the FIA officials arrested accused Azhar Siddiqui from Railway Headquarters. He said FIA received number of complaints against Azhar for defrauding people.
“He received one crore ten lakh from Usman Ahmad and received ten lakh from Shakeel Ahmad and three lakh from Muhammad Tayyab by providing fake leasing documents of railway land”, Aftab said, adding the accused had been issued a number of show cause notices and once he was dismissed from service by the railway but reinstated later.
A case, FIR 46/17, has been registered against Azhar for investigation. Separately, FIA conducted a copyright infringement raid on a factory, Ravi Motorcycles, on Defence Road under the supervision of Mian Khurram Yousaf, FIA Deputy Director.
According to FIA officials, the subject factory was involved in illegal manufacturing of parts and motorcycles of different brands including Honda, Safari, Crown, etc. The complaint was lodged by a factory, the officials said, adding a case has been registered against Iqbal Khalid.
