Mashal lynching
PESHAWAR: Condemning the lynching of student Mashal Khan, the representatives of various political parties and members of the civil society organisations on Saturday asked the government to bring the perpetrators to justice. The demand was made at a rally opposite the Cantonment Railway Station here. The demonstrators also included women and children.
The Progressive Democratic Alliance comprising activists of three political parties and members of the civil society organisations had organised the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Mukhtiar Bacha, Shakeel Waheedullah Khan, Yousaf Anwar, Shahab Khattak and others said that lynching of Mashal Khan was tantamount to the killing of mankind.
They said those justifying the murder of Mashal Khan were equally responsible. They added the government was least bothered to pursue the matter.
They said that Mashal Khan’s case should be transferred to the military court as political parties had supported extension in their tenure. They threatened to stage a hunger strike camp outside the provincial assembly’s building if justice was not provided to the bereaved family.
