A mega project
This refers to the article, ‘Let’s not romanticise CPEC’ (May 19), by Nadir Hassan. Paskistanis and the country’s leadership should realise that CPEC is not a charity initiative. It is also important to note that Balochistan has an important connecting route to Gwadar which paves way for numerous opportunities. This route cannot be ignored. The exploration of mineral wealth in the province is what the detailed plan explores, which is a resource that enriches Balochistan immensely. Educational and vocational development has to be taken up at the provincial level to polish the skills of people in Balochistan.
We must take charge of our destination and work together to exploit the full potential of CPEC. As far as the surveillance initiative is concerned the modality is vague, but we cannot dismiss the potential good that can come out of it by spreading paranoia.
