Patients to be treated free at Hepatitis Clinic: CM

Says clinics in every district will start functioning by end of year

LAHORE

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced the provision of 100pc free treatment to patients at the Hepatitis Filter Clinic and said that earlier only poor and deserving patients were provided with free treatment in the clinic. He also announced setting up the clinics in every district of the province and said that 36 clinics would start functioning by the end of the year. 

He also visited the Hepatitis Filter Clinic set up under Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute and Research Center today. He also took round of the under construction building and reviewed work. Talking to the media, he  said the Punjab government was working round the clock on state-of-the-art Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute and Research Center from its own resources and the Rs16 billion project would provide modern medical facilities to liver and kidney patients. "Work also continues on the construction of the building of the latest hospital of the institution where modern machinery and equipment will be installed and best and able Pakistani doctors would be available for treatment of the patients. Expert doctors from Europe, Middle East, America and other countries will also be brought for service and Dr Saeed Akhtar is working hard in this regard," he added. 

He said with the completion of the first phase of the institution, the provision of latest treatment facilities would start for liver and kidney patients by the end of the current year. He said that service to ailing humanity is a form of worship and for the purpose, this modern institution was being established in the provincial metropolis. "Deserving patients will be provided with free treatment facilities in the institution while fee would be charged from walthy patients. The patients will not have to visit China, Europe or India rather they would be provided modern and quality treatment facilities in the hospital," he added. 

He said the Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute would be a great success of the people of Punjab and Pakistan. He said that hepatitis is a deadly disease and its timely diagnoses and treatment is very necessary, therefore, the Punjab government had decided to lay a network of hepatitis filter clinics throughout the province and implementation to the decision had been started. He said that there was no shortage of funds and all possible resources would be provided for serving ailing humanity and treatment of patients. He also met with patients. He mingled with them and asked about facilities being provided in the clinic. The patients informed him that best medical facilities were being provided to them and the behaviour of doctors and staff was good. The patients prayed for his long life.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said the PML-N government had selflessly served the people during its four year tenure and Pakistan was moving towards progress under the leadership of PM Nawaz Sharif.
