Women stage demo against gas shutdown in Multan

MULTAN: Dozens of women staged a demonstration against the gas shutdown at Fawara Chowk on Saturday.
The women from different localities chanted slogans against the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited officials for subjecting them to unnecessary shutdown. They demanded the government provide them uninterrupted gas supply. The protesters said that they had lodged several complaints, but failed to get relief. They said that stoves and other appliances were dysfunctional due to low pressure and they were unable to cook daily meals.
They threaten to set up a hunger strike camp in front of SNGPL office if their demand was not accepted within 48 hours. They said that they were facing great hardships due to the loadshedding of Sui gas and electricity. They said the closure of gas in cold weather had put made their lives miserable. The protesters were also carrying spoons and pots in their hands. Later, they also blocked Abdali Road. They said they were already facing the closure of water and electricity, and the gas shutdown in the area had made their lives miserable.
The protesters said that the people residing in most of congested residential, industrial and commercial areas were facing ordeals due to very low gas pressure. They said up to 20-hour loadshedding of gas had made their lives difficult in urban areas of the city. They said that the situation had badly hampered the industrial activities as well.
