LANDIKOTAL: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq said on Saturday that the people of Pakistan would never accept the supremacy of India.
“The US wishes to see India assume the role of a policeman to subjugate other nations in the region,” he said while talking to reporters here.
He went to Landikotal to offer condolences to a local JI leader Abdul Rauf Shinwari over the death of his father. He said the people of Pakistan would never allow the domination of India in the region.
“US President Barack Obama must urge the Indian government to stop perpetrating atrocities against the Kashmiri people and solve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations if he attached importance to human rights,” Sirajul Haq added. The JI head said time is ripe for doing away with the British-era Frontier Crimes Regulation in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and introduce a system in consultation with the tribal elders that guaranteed basic rights to the tribesmen.
He said the government acted in haste to make the 21st Amendment to the Constitution in the wake of the Peshawar school massacre. He complained that the government didn’t consider the suggestions of JI and some other political parties.
Sirajul Haq warned against taking action against seminaries, adding that terrorism should not be bracketed with the religious schools of learning. “We are against all forms of terrorism. The terrorists don’t have a religion,” he maintained. He asked the government to send the internally displaced persons back home with their dignity intact and revive the business activities in their hometowns.
