SC rejects bail pleas of accused involved in housing societies fraud

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday rejected bail pleas of four accused involved in fraud of millions of rupees in housing societies. After the rejection of the bail pleas, the four accused persons were arrested from the courtroom and shifted to the Islamabad’s Secretariat Police Station.

A two-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, on Monday conducted hearing of different cases. While giving his remarks, Justice Dost said that scandals surfaced in all the housing societies in the country, adding that corruption should not be tolerated at any cost if country was to be saved. He raised a question as to whether any society did give house to any deserving person on merit, adding that there was fraud upon fraud.

There were charges of corruption of millions of rupees against the accused in the housing society in Multan. The accused Hafiz Masood Nawaz, Abdul Razzaq, Talha Baig and Muhammad Khan were arrested.
