PESHAWAR: In pursuance of recommendations of the administration committee of Peshawar High Court, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi on Monday promoted 30 judicial officers.
As per the official communiqué issued by the registrar, two additional district and sessions judges were promoted as district and sessions judges, 12 senior civil judges were elevated to additional district and sessions judges and 16 civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates to senior civil judges.
After two days of deliberation and keeping in view the individual performance, it said, the administration committee considered cases of judicial officers for promotion. The two additional district sessions judges including Badruddin and Fakhar Zaman were promoted as district and sessions judges in BPS-21.
Similarly, 16 senior civil judges including six female judges were promoted as additional district and sessions judges in PBS-20.They included Ijaz Ahmad, Wali Muhammad Khan, Syed Kamal Hussain Shah, Azimullah Mishwani, Ms Sadia Andaleeb, Ms Nusrat Naz, Arbab Sohail Hamid, Mrs Shaban Mehsood, Mrs Nadia Syed, Ms Wadeeya Mushtaq Malik, Syed Tufail Ahmad and Ms Lubna Zaman.
The PHC chief justice also promoted 16 civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates as senior civil judges in BPS-19 including Malik Muhammad Hasnain, Ijazul Haq Awan, Mian Zahidullah Jan, Asim Riaz, Abdul Basit, Sultan Hussain, Adil Zeb Khan, Syed Zahid Shah, Dr Qazi Attaullah, Amin Said, Sher Aziz, Faisal Anjum, Mrs Hina Mehwish, Raja Muhammad Shoaib Khan, Alamgir Shah and Nisar Muhammad Khan.
The communiqué stated that through another notification was expected shortly, the promoted officers were given new postings. “This is also added that six additional district & sessions judges will shortly be recruited from the lawyer community through a process which will be initiated soon,” it said.
The PHC chief justice has also directed that Provincial Public Service Commission should immediately be approached for filling vacant positions of 49 civil judges/judicial magistrates. It said that the posting of the newly promoted judicial officers was expected to ease work pressure and tackle growing pendency in different districts and would bring efficiency and fast disposal of judicial cases.
