Pildat moot terms tweet inappropriate
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development And Transparency (Pildat) convened a meeting of senior politicians, retired army officers and senior journalists to discuss post-ISPR tweet scenario particularly against the backdrop of some recent developments in civil-military relations.
Participants of the meeting jointly issued a statement.
‘We consider that the tweet of DG ISPR that the ‘notification is rejected’ was inappropriate in terms of the Constitution of Pakistan and recommends that a meeting of the National Security Committee should be convened urgently to repair the damage to civil-military relations and to the image of the elected government and its valiant Armed Forces.
We also recommend that the full report of the ‘Dawn Leaks’ Inquiry Committee should be made public immediately to set at rest all doubts about the culpability of persons responsible in this matter of national security.
The meeting was attended and the statement was supported by former federal minister, former governor Sindh and former corps commander Lieutenant General (R) Moinuddin Haider, senior advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan and former Governor Punjab Shahid Hamid, senior advocate supreme court Parvez Hassan, Former High Commissioner of Pakistan to India Shahid Malik, senior journalist Arif Nizami, President Pildat Ahmed Bilal Mehboob, former senator Javed Jabbar, former foreign minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, Lieutenant General (R) Talat Masood, former federal secretary Rustam Shah Mohmand, former federal secretary interior Tasneem Noorani, senior journalists Saleem Safi and Mujib-ur-Rehman Shami.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA and party's information secretary Shafqat Mahmood also attended the meeting but he abstained from voting on the statement.
