KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Thursday suspended the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority’s decision regarding the cancellation of licenses of two private TV channels till May 10.
The SHC’s single bench, headed by Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar, observed that the contention raised in the application required consideration and issued notices to Pemra and the Ministry of Interior for May 10 and in the meantime suspended the impugned order of Pemra till further orders.
The interim stay order came on the application of the company owning the channels against the decision of Pemra, which revoked the licenses following rejection of security clearance of its directors by the Ministry of Interior.
