I am not a candidate for Senate: Hashmi

MULTAN: Senior politician Javed Hashmi has categorically denied that he is a candidate for the Senate, saying he had sacrificed for democracy instead of getting benefits and offices.
He was talking to journalists after the Chehlum of the
eshawar martyrs on Friday. He paid tributes to the students martyred in Peshawar, saying that they had sacrificed for the nation. He said that though he was not the Senate candidate, but would continue his struggle for democracy. “If designated legislators took part in the Senate elections, the will be exposed badly. The National Assembly speaker does not have any constitutional right to disapprove the resignations of PTI legislators,” he said. Hashmi urged the army and the judiciary to show unity to save the country. “The dictators imposed martial laws in past and I resisted all of them,” he said.
