ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted bails to the Larkana district health officer Mehboob Shah and his wife Faheema Soomro, in a case making assets beyond their resources.
The court accepted the bails against the surety bonds of Rs500,000 each. Justice Gulzar Ahmed heard the bail plea. During the course of proceeding, the prosecutor of NAB alleged that the accused had earned Rs120 million beyond their resources.
He argued that if the accused were not arrested, it would give a wrong perception. However, the counsel for the accused, Farooq Naek, argued that his clients had inherited the whole property.
He said Senate’s former chairman Mohammadmian Soomro had initiated a reference against them and prayed the court to grant them bail. It may be mentioned here that NAB had filed a reference against Shah and his wife for allegedly making assets beyond their resources.
