The lynching of Mashal Khan by a mob demonstrates the mindset that prevails in our society. This incident shows that in our country, unfortunately, mob rule is the order of the day. Such incidents have happened in the past and if things continue like this, they will happen in the future too.
The fact that the incident took place in a university shows how far we have ‘progressed’ in the field of education.

Just a few days after the Mashal Khan incident, a man was brutally beaten by an enraged mob at Shahi Masjid in Chitral for allegedly uttering blasphemous remarks. The alleged blasphemer, who is also believed to have mental health issues, was rescued when the mosque’s imam handed him over to the police.
It’s really painful to learn that Chitral was completely shut-down on the following day and the vehicle of the Khateeb of Shahi Masjid was torched just because he called the police that barred the mob from taking the man’s life. Islam doesn’t allow anyone to demolish someone’s property in such a way. This beautiful religion doesn’t encourage such incidents. Those people who are taking shelter in religion after committing heinous crimes are actually portraying a negative image of the religion.
