Totally exposed

The fuel crisis has exposed the incompetence of the government. The real reason for the crisis seems to be the re-emergence of circular debt. The petroleum minister has shown no moral courage . On his part, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar gave the most ridiculous statement about the whole issue, terming it a conspiracy against the government.
As chief financial officer of the country, the finance minister should have ensured that funds for such an important utility were available on time. This speaks volumes about the government’s way of addressing other more complex issues like national security and the overall state of economy.
