The petrol crisis will add more pressure on a government already mired in numerous other issues. Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi blamed the substantially high demand of petrol for the crisis whereas experts pointed at the government’s failure to accumulate adequate stocks. However, all reports were unanimous in holding PSO responsible for failing to secure credit to pay for its imports.
People are being bombarded with the haphazardly-assembled reasoning for the shortage of petrol. This is yet another example of the gross mismanagement and corruption of the present government. People do not need hollow apologies and empty promises – they want immediate action over.
