Rawalpindi The federal government schools in Rawalpindi have started charging Rs125 from every student as security charges, whereas the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has ordered all educational institutions not to charge security fee from students. Parents have appealed to the authorities concerned to issue orders to federal government schools working in Rawalpindi not to charge security charges, as the Punjab government has also passed strict orders to all schools, both public and private, not to increase their monthly fee on pretext of security. Talking to 'The News,' Javed Saleem, a father, said that his son is studying in FG Boys High School No-2, Lalkurti. “The school has increased the monthly fee and has charged Rs125 in the name of security,” he added. He said this is the responsibility of the government to provide security and make all arrangement but they have started charging fee from parents, whereas CADD has issued orders to private schools not to charge extra money from parents in the name of security charges but they are doing the same. “The Punjab government schools are also not charging security charges from parents then why federal government schools are putting an extra burden on parents. The authorities concerned should take notice and issue orders to these schools not to increase monthly fee,” he urged. Asad Ali, another father, said people are already suffering from high inflation rate and at this time putting an extra burden on parents in the name of security charges is injustice. “Parents are hardly meeting the expenses of studies of their children and instead of providing some relief to parents FG schools have increased Rs125 fee in the name of security,” he added. Minister of State for CADD Barrister Usman Ibrahim has issued directives to PEIRA, the regulator for private educational institutions in Islamabad, to ensure no private school is charging extra money from parents in the name of security. Despite several attempts on this contact number by this correspondent, Minister of State for CADD Barrister Usman Ibrahim was not available to comment over the issue. CADD Public Relations Officer Sana Hameed also refused to comment over the issue saying that she is on leave.
