With the daytime temperatures increasing fast to the frustration of Islooites mostly out on the streets, here come good news. According to the Met Office, there is a high likelihood of thundershowers falling in the capital city and adjoining areas today (Friday) under the influence of a westerly wave.
Isolated hailstorms are also expected. “On Friday and Saturday, rainfall accompanied by dust and thunderstorm and gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Islamabad, parts of KP including Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Bannu and DI Khan, upper Punjab including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha and Faisalabad, FATA, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan and at isolated places in Quetta, Zhob and DG Khan,” forecasting officer of the Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Thursday.
He added that hot and dry weather would prevail elsewhere in the country during the period. The weatherman said high daytime temperature was reported in most parts of the country in the day with it going up to 38°C.
He said the highest temperature in the country was reported in Larkana with the mercury touching 49.5°C mark followed by Sukkur Moenjodaro and Dadu 49°C, and Jacobabad, Sibbi, Shaheed Benazirabad and Padidan 48°C.
