MULTAN: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has expressed his willingness to return to the assemblies if the government forms the judicial commission to probe rigging in the last general elections.
Talking to journalists here on Wednesday, Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the PTI was ready to play its role in the assemblies if the government formed the judicial commission without a delay. He said the PTI had preferred state interests to politics, but the PML-N government was sacrificing politics over national interests on priority.
He said that some people and political parties were mum and showing opportunism over the rigging in the last general elections. “The masses demand free, fair and transparent elections because the country can not be run without transparent elections.” Criticising the government over petrol crisis, he said it was created by the government, which exposed bad governance. He said the government had failed in giving a relief to the masses at lower level and failed to deliver at all fronts. He said days of the regime were numbered and sooner or later it would have to be ousted from the offices.
Qureshi rejected the Jeddah plan and scheduled meeting between Imran Khan and Dr Tahirul Qadri. About the Senate elections, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the PTI should not take part in it. He said the government must take seminaries into confidence for reforms in the sector. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the PTI had highlighted the masses’ problems during 126-day sit-in in Islamabad, but the government had not shown mature attitude for the resolution of the problem. “The PTI expects political maturity from the government and took part in the All Parties Conference setting aside all differences with the government,” he said.
