Imran for putting KP Accountability Commission under PHC CJ
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has announced to put the Accountability Commission in Khyber Pakhtun-khwa province under the Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC).
Imran made the announcement on Thursday in his twitter post. He said that the KP government would be introducing a bill in the provincial assembly that the Director General (DG) Ehtesab Commission should be appointed by the chief justice of the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
Furthermore, he said that according to the proposed bill, DG Ehtesab Commission should report to the chief justice of PHC to make the accountability body independent from the provincial government’s influence. The KP government will table the legal draft for the approval of the same in the KP Assembly soon, he added in his Twitter message.
The PTI demands the same kind of legislation for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at the Centre because its present chief is being appointed by two corrupt leaders by wheeling dealing, Imran said. The sitting head of NAB has completely failed in accountability and that’s the reason he was posted on this position, he added.
Imran said that the party might come up with a similar bill for the appointment of the chairman NAB. He said that chairman NAB had failed to properly perform his duties.
