PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly through a unanimous resolution on Tuesday condemned the United States for conducting airstrikes attack on Syria.It urged the federal government to convene the joint session of the Parliament to take stock of the situation.
Pakistan People’s Party Member Provincial Assembly Fakhre Azam Wazir tabled the resolution that was signed by provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, Mohammad Ali of Jamaat-i-Islami, Sultan Mohammad Khan of Qaumi Watan Party, Rashad Khan of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and opposition leader Maulana Lutfur Rehman.
Through the resolution, the provincial assembly asked the federal government to convene a joint session of the parliament to discuss the issue. The provincial assembly through the resolution appealed the Muslim countries to raise voice against the attack at the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) as these strikes were not only on Syria an attack on the whole Muslim Ummah.
Deputy Speaker Dr Mehr Taj Roghani, who presided over the proceedings, put the resolution to vote and the House adopted it unanimously. Through another unanimous resolution, the House asked the federal government for legislating for foiling conspiracies against Islam.
