HARIPUR: An official of the Health Department claimed that about 331 new cases of tuberculosis had been detected in the district during the last three months.
Speaking at the press club here on Wednesday, Dr Javed Iqbal, district TB Control Officer, said that 331 new tuberculosis cases were detected in the district during the last three months.He said that a regular cough for two weeks, light fever, reducing weight and loss of appetite were the main symptoms of tuberculosis.
He added that tuberculosis was an infectious decease which be contracted from one to another person.“Eight TB centres have been working in various areas of the district”, he said.Khairul Bashar, representative of provisional TB control programme, said that KP TB control programme started the new awareness campaign against the TB.
He said that the goal of the programme was to reduce TB prevalence and death rates by tuberculosis.He urged the journalists to play their role in the awareness programme, adding that free treatment was being provided to the patients suffering from tuberculosis.
