In Pakistan deaths owing to coronary heart disease have reached about 200,000 per year that is 410/100,000 of the population. Coronary heart disease is a condition in which a waxy substance called plaque build up insides the coronary arteries. These arteries supply oxygen rich blood to the heart. Other cardiovascular disease refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to heart attack. 30 to 40 percent of all deaths in Pakistan are due to cardiovascular diseases.
Hypertension is one of the leading cause of cardiac diseases in Pakistan, 33 percent of Pakistani population above 45 years of age has hypertension. Some other risks factors are sedentary lifestyle, insomnia, stress, smoking, saturated fat intake, sugars, salt, soda, starch. Preventive actions like healthy diet, active lifestyle and staying positive all day might reduce the risk factors of cardiac disease and this will also help in attaining healthy lifestyle.
