Security forces foil major terror bids in Peshawar, Quetta

PESHAWAR/QUETTA: Security forces have foiled terror bids in Peshawar and Balochistan as they arrested suspected terrorists and recovered explosives and arms from their custody.

According to information, three terrorists were arrested on Sunday while planting an IED at Peshawar’s Northern Bypass. Those arrested were identified as Abdul Wahab, Sardar Ibrahim and Saifullah. The police recovered five kgs of explosive, three pistols and dozens of bullets. Bomb Disposal Squad was called in which defused the IED.

Security forces also thwarted a major terrorist attack near Pak-Afghan border in the wee hours of Sunday. At least two terrorists were arrested during the operation. Security forces also recovered 80 kilograms of explosives.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) wing of the Pakistan Army, Operation Raddul Fasaad to eliminate the residual and latent threat of terrorism in the country continues with full force nationwide.

Security forces carried out an operation in Quetta on actionable intelligence and foiled the terrorist attack. Two terrorists were arrested while the security forces also recovered explosives, said ISPR. The terrorists hid 80 kilograms of explosives in a car, added ISPR. According to initial investigation, the car was rigged with explosives in Kandahar, Afghanistan, said the ISPR.
