LAHORE
The Lahore High Court on Friday directed the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to provide a national identity card (NIC) within six weeks to a man, who did not have arms, by getting his toe impressions.
Muhammad Nazak, a resident of Jalapur, had approached the court with a plea that he did not have both arms and he was deprived of basic civil rights.
He said the Nadra was not willing to provide him an NIC as they could not get his thumbprints.
He submitted he could open a bank account or to get a SIM card, transfer property or do other things. He said that under the law an NIC could be issued to him by getting his toe impression but it was not done. He requested the court to issue directions to the Nadra to issue him an NIC.
